46.4 per cent of the population trust in the National Armed Forces — among state and public institutions they ranked third, according to the results of a survey that was carried out upon the order of the newspaper Neatkarīgā Rīta Avīze Latvijai.
Compared to last year, public trust in the armed forces has increased by 7.9 percentage points.
Let us recall that last year 38.5 per cent of the population had trust in the armed forces, putting them in the fourth place — just behind educational institutions, churches, and radio.
Survey results of the research centre SKDS that were published in the newspaper show that in 2011 armed forces were trusted by 37 per cent of the population, in 2010 — 36 per cent, but in 2000 — by 28 per cent of the population. In 1997, armed forces had a negative rating — 31 per cent of the population did not trust the armed forces.
According to the research of the sociological research centre SKDS that was carried out by the order of the newspaper, educational institutions (63 per cent) and radio (49 per cent) is now enjoying the largest trust of the public.
